A biracial child in Claremont, New Hampshire could be a victim of an attempted lynching, according to reporting by local media.

The 8-year old boy was taken to the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center hospital on August 28th for cuts and burns on his neck after local teens tied a rope around his neck and pushed him off a picnic table, according to an account given to The Valley News by his grandmother, Lorrie Slattery.

Slattery also told local media she believes her grandson, who had been called racial slurs by the same teens in the past, was targeted because of his race.

The boy is not communicating with anyone about the traumatic event, and his mother is also struggling to cope, Slattery told The Valley News.

Local police declined to directly answer whether they were investigating the incident due to laws which prohibit law enforcement from disclosing the identities of underage persons.

The incident occurred two days before white high school students in Albuquerque, NM were suspended for posting a doctored image on Snapchat of a fellow black student surrounded by pupils wearing Klu Klux Klan hoods. Read More
