Man Knowingly Transmits HIV To Women

By Daily Mail

A personal trainer has been arrested and charged with knowingly transmitting HIV to three women he dated.
Jimmy Amutavi, 46, of Wilmette, Chicago, was charged with three counts of criminal transmission of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, The Chicago Tribune reported.
Amutavi repeatedly had unprotected sex with the women and then denied he had the virus when confronted, Cook County prosecutors said.
He was diagnosed with the virus as early as December 2001, the newspaper reported.
Prosecutors said Amutavi began monthslong dating relationships with each of the women while working as their personal trainer between April 2015 and this year.
Cook County Judge Laura M Sullivan has barred him from contacting any of the victims.

His attorney says his client had been taking retroviral medication that made it almost impossible for him to transmit HIV.
Amutavi, who is a father of a five-year-old son, will return to court next week.
If he’s convicted of the charges, he faces three to seven years in prison for each.
Amutavi is being held on $150,000 bail.
