Cohabitation Without Marriage May Soon Be Illegal in Michigan

You’ve probably heard of those old, obscure laws that don’t really have a place in the present day.

Things like, cars can’t be sold on Sundays or you can’t get drunk on a train.

Did you know, right now in Michigan, it’s a crime for a man and a woman to live together if they’re not married?

It’s true – and if it were enforced, violators could be charged with a misdemeanor and face up to a year in jail or be fined $1,000.

A bill passed out of a senate committee this week is looking to strike that old law from the books.

Next, the bill to abolish this law heads to the full senate for consideration.
